Are you up to date with the latest FSA Legislation regarding Vacuum Packing Foods?
In order to keep the risk of cross contamination of raw and cooked foods to a minimum, a new legislation has been introduced by the FSA (Food Standards Agency) and is not a maybe, but a must – but are you up to date? The FSA believe that the risk of e-coli bacteria is becoming increasingly dangerous so they have given restaurants and catering industries one of 2 options:
- You can use one vacuum packing machine, for cooked and raw foods, however after every use it must be stripped down by a certified engineer, which will cost time and money.
- The more realistic option is for catering businesses to introduce a secondary vacuum packing machine to avoid cross contamination between raw and cooked foods.
With this in mind, do you need any help complying with these rules? The unfortunate consequences of not complying with these rules can result in establishments being stripped of their hygiene stars – something that no catering and restaurant establishment wishes to happen.
